Description
Quality assurance programmes implemented for some jobs of the Fast Breeder Test Reactor, now under construction at Kalpakkam, are described. The jobs considered for description are: austenitic stainless steel (AISI 316) welding, control of delta ferrite content to the range 2.5 to 5.5% in the austenitic stainless steel welds, hot forming of bends in sodium inlet stainless steel pipes, fabrication by cold forming process of the pull-outs of sodium outlet connections on reactor vessel shell and control of deviations from the requirements in the manufacture of reactor vessel, grid plate and diffuser assembly. The various test methods and procedures followed in the programmes are also described in brief. (M.G.B.)
