Description
Methanization or anaerobic digestion represents one of the major sectors of sustainable development and the circular economy. This sector is part of the implementation of policies to reduce energy dependency and greenhouse gas emissions. Biogas is a renewable energy source that can be used to produce electricity, heat or even directly injected into natural gas networks. Currently, the development of methanization in France is characterised by the great diversity of organic waste used and its use in co-digestion (the simultaneous biodegradation of two or more wastes). However, the lack of solutions specifically adapted to the diversity of waste represents an obstacle to the profitability of methanization units and the development of this sector on an industrial scale. Hence the need for the market to have access to innovative and robust tools to characterize organic waste (inputs) and to predict and optimize the performance of digesters
Abstract (French)
La methanisation ou digestion anaerobie represente un des secteurs majeurs du developpement durable et de l'economie circulaire. Cette filiere s'inscrit dans le cadre de la mise en place de politiques de reduction de la dependance energetique et des emissions de gaz a effet de serre. Le biogaz est une source d'energie renouvelable qui peut etre utilisee pour la production d'electricite, de chaleur ou encore directement injectee dans les reseaux de gaz naturel. Actuellement, le developpement de la methanisation en France se caracterise par une grande diversite des dechets organiques utilises et leur utilisation en co-digestion (la biodegradation simultanee de deux ou plusieurs dechets). Cependant, le manque de solutions specifiquement adaptees a la diversite des dechets represente un obstacle a la rentabilite des unites de methanisation et au developpement de ce secteur a l'echelle industrielle.
