Comparisons of activity results based on theoretical and experimental evaluation for n-γ reaction of 238U neutron activation

  • 1. Centro de Desenvolvimento da Tecnologia Nuclear (CDTN/CNEN-MG), Belo Horizonte, MG (Brazil)

Description

A standard sample of uranium was irradiated with neutrons in a research nuclear reactor 100 kW power, TRIGA MARK I, for different times and the final activity for each time of activation was measured by gamma spectrometry considering 239U decay. An HPGe gamma detector of 50% efficiency was used for 239U activities measurements. 238U nuclear data were selected from reliable and specialized literature. It was observed that the experimental results for 239U activities are in a good agreement with the theoretical values, considering statistical significance test performed. (author)
