Re-measuring the nucleon's F2(n) / F2(p) and d/u

Description

The reliability of the existing extraction of the nucleon structure function and quark distribution ratios F2n/F2p and d/u from measurements of deep inelastic electron scattering off the proton and deuteron is discussed. Jefferson Lab measurements using semi-inclusive electron-deuteron scattering and deep inelastic electron scattering off the 3He and 3H mirror nuclei, expected to provide data free of theoretical uncertainties, are presented.
