Radioactive corrosion products in BWR - adsorption and diffusion in oxide layers

Description
Several models for activity buildup have been developed over the years. However, none of these take into account the diffusion of the radionuclides into the passive layers and crud layers. In the following paper a diffusion model is presented that allows calculations of activity takeup kinetics and of adsorption equilibria between the reactor water and the oxide surfaces on the system surfaces. This model was developed for diffusion of neutron activated corrosion product nuclides in oxide layers in BWRs. The model can be used for calculations of activity takeup kinetics. Also calculations can be made of adsorption equilibria between the reactor water and the oxide surfaces on the system surfaces. (orig.)
