Description

ALURTRON is one of the service centres in the Malaysian Nuclear Agency that offers electron bean irradiation services. Various products sent to ALURTRON for irradiation include Silicone wafer (Si wafer) products. This product uses almost 60% of ALURTRON's operating time each year. The main purpose of this product irradiation is to improve the electronic specifications on the product. Objective of the study was to see the differences in the response of Cellulose Triacetate (CTA) dosimeter to electron beam radiation using three different types of trolley bases during sample irradiation. The CTA is a dosimeter used in ALURTRON to obtain the dose reading absorbed by the sample. In this study, parameters of the EPS-3000 machine used is 3MeV , 2 mA , with a trolley speed of 0.94m/min. The dose used range from 90 kGy to 110 kGy. Three trolley bases were compared: playwood, wire mesh and stainless steel. It is found that the dose if uniformly distributed better when using wire mesh compared to plywood and stainless steel type. This situation suggested that ALURTRON to change the plywood type to wire mesh and stainless steel sype. (author)
