Physics Reach of the BTeV Experiment

  • 1. University of Virginia, Department of Physics, Charlottesville, VA 22901 (United States)

Description

The BTeV experiment represents 'potentially the best quark flavor experiment into the next decade' according to a recent declaration of the Particle Physics Project Prioritization Panel (P5). The capabilities of this experiment will be discussed in this paper for measurements in the b and c quark systems of CP violation effects, the phases of the CKM triangle, rare decays, and, finally, the detection of new physics outside the Standard Model such as SUSY and/or the presence of extra dimensions
