Dose computation algorithms for individual thermoluminescence dosimetry

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Radiation Protection Services Division

Description

Dose computation algorithms have been developed for interpretation of the TL readings obtained from three CaSO4:Dy-Teflon dosemeters positioned in the presently used TLD badge, in terms of equivalent dose. Algorithms are based on parametrization of the response to the various pure and mixed fields. It identifies the radiation field type, position of the badge during use i.e. above or below the lead apron and provide the equivalent dose making use of the appropriate correction factors. These algorithms have been successfully tested for routine personnel dosimetry and will be of great advantage with the TL reading system being coupled with PC for envisaged automation in large scale personnel monitoring programme.
