Investigation on the crack propagation at high temperature (5500C) under static and cyclic load in an austenitic stainless steel 316 L
Description
In creep the rate of crack propagation is related to the J* parameter. The correlation obtained leads to less dispersion than with other parameters (K, sigmasub(nett), sigmasub(ref)). Cracking during creep is well represented by a relation between initiation time and J*. Scanning electron microscopy observation of rupture surface shows a rupture by intergranular decohesion. In low cycle fatigue (5 cycles/hr) craking rate is measured up to 10-4 mm/cycle and are compared to rates at 4 cycles/mn and 20Hz. Fractographic examination shows that for ΔK of about 23 MPa √m the fracture from mixte becomes intergranular. A holding time of 10mn at maximum load, for 5 cycles/hr, has no influence on cracking rate
Abstract (French)
En fluage, la vitesse de fissuration a ete reliee au parametre J*. La correlation obtenue conduit a une dispersion moins importante qu'en utilisant les autres parametres (K, sigmasub(nett), sigmasub(ref)). Une relation liant le temps a l'amorcage tsub(i) et J* semble etre une bonne facon de representer la fissuration en fluage. L'observation en microscopie electronique a balayage des surfaces rompues indique un mode de rupture par decohesions intergranulaires. En fatigue lente, a 5 cycles par heure, les vitesses de fissuration ont ete mesurees jusqu'a 10-4 mm/cycle et sont comparees a celles obtenues a 4 cycles par minute et 20 hertz. Les examens fractographiques indiquent que la rupture passe de mixte a intergranulaire pour des valeurs de ΔK voisines de 23 MPa √m. L'introduction d'un temps de maintien de dix minutes au changement maximal, a la frequence de 5 cycles par heure, n'a pas d'influence sensible sur la vitesse de fissurationAdditional details
