Physical properties of MgCl2-filled PMMA films for optical applications

Description

Pure and MgCl2-filled poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA films were prepared by casting. Various filling levels 0, 0.1, 1, 5, 10 and 15 wt% were prepared. The structures of pure and filled PMMA films were investigated using X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, infrared spectra and optical absorption. All these analysis revealed some structural change due to MgCl2 filling. Direct current electrical resistivity (ρ) was discussed on the basis of the modified interpolaron hopping model of Kuivalainen. The temperature and filling level dependence of ρ and hopping distance (R0), are discussed. The electron spin resonance spectra were also studied
