Investigation on manufacturing technology of multi-pin assembly for dry recycled nuclear fuel
Description
In this study, the design concept and technology for the remote fabrication of DUPIC multi-pin assembly was studied. Some major characteristics and structures of multi-pin assembly were analyzed to establish the basic concept for manufacturing process for the qualified DUPIC multi-pin assembly. Various of welding technologies including the resistance welding for CANDU fuel bundle were analyzed for Zircaloy-4 end-plate welding. And the basic experiments and weld strength tests were performed to investigate the welding feasibility using a high power laser and Zircaloy-4 end-plate. The assembly jig was also designed and made to develop remote assembling technology, and the performance test was carried out with the remotely operated manipulator at mock-up test facility
