Crystalline electric field study in NdNiΛ5 compound by inelastic magnetic scattering of thermal neutrons
Description
The results of the determination of hexagonal crystalline electric field (CEF) parameters for NdNi5 compound by measuring thermal neutrons inelastic scattering are presented. The following values are obtained for CEF parameters: B20=0.22, B40=0.54x10-3, B60=-0.33x10-4, B66=-0.12x10-2 MeV. The calculation of a number of macroscopic properties and their comparison with experimental results are carried out on the basis of CEF parameter values determined in neutron experiments. CEF parameters in NdNi5 are compared with CEF parameters in other RNi5 compounds. The comparison results are discussed in regard to conductivity electrons effect on CEF potential
