Description

Concentration levels of various elements, viz. Cu, Ag, Sn, Sb, Au and As have been estimated in different ancient coins using Cf-252 neutron source by instrumental neutron activation analysis technique. It is found that copper forms one of the major components of all the coins studied while arsenic and gold are found to be at tracer level in almost all the coins. The other elements detected are tin, silver and antimony in varying amounts. (Author)
