Silylated azanides of Ti(IV) and Zr(IV)

  • 1. Panjab Univ., Chandigarh (India). Dept. of Chemistry

Description

A convenient method is reported for the preparation of titanazanes, 1:1 and 1:2 reactions of TiCl4 with NaN(SiMe3)2 in tetrahydrofuran-hexane medium. An equimolar reaction of ZrCl4 with NaN(SiMe3)2 leads to bis(silyl)amide Cl3Zr-N(SiMe3)2, whereas reactions in higher molar ratios (1:2 and 1:4) lead to heterocycles, Cl2Zr-CH2-SiMe2-NSiMe3 and Zr(-CH2-SiMe2-NSiMe3)2, respectively. The compounds have been characterised by elemental analyses, molar conductance, infrared and 'H NMR measurements. (author)
