Position of the magnetic median surface in the magnet of the JINR synchrophasotron
Description
Information is presented on the position of the magnetic median surface on the quadrants of the synchrophasotron magnet for a field of 230 Gs on the base of the present measurements and of those performed in 1960. The amplitude and position of first harmonics of distortion of the magnetic median surface and the beam orbit in the vertical plane for a field of 230 Gs are compared to the 1960 data. The coincidence is shown of the results of measurements of the position of the beam orbit in the vertical plane obtained by two independent methods: by means of magnetic measurements and peak-up electrodes. It is shown that distortions in the position of the magnetic median surface in a field interval of 230-650 Gs were to a sufficient extent corrected in 1969. The results are presented of correcting distortions and the influence of operating correction on an accelerated beam
