Determining plutonium isotopes content in Chernobyl samples based on uranium characteristic Lx-radiation

  • 1. Mezhdunarodnyj Chernobyl'skij Tsentr, Chernobyl' (Ukraine)

Description

Standard determination of plutonium isotopes content in the samples under study, requires long and expensive radiochemical procedure. The method for determining Plutonium isotopes content, which is based on Uranium characteristic Lx-radiation. To apply the given method one will need appropriate semi-conducting X-ray and gamma spectrometers as well as knowledge on proper determination of soft X-radiation's self-absorption in a sample
