Photometric determination of aminothiol impurities in Gammafos

Description
A procedure was developed for photometric determination of γ-amino-propylaminoethyl-thiol impurities (to 2%) in S-[N-(γ-aminopropyl)-β-aminoethyl]thiophosphate (Gammafos) with Ellman's reagent. A symmetric disulfide does not interfere in the determination of the thiol. When the analysis is carried out rapidly (1 min, pH 7.0), the effect of Gammafos on the determination of the thiol is eliminated. The disulfide is determined indirectly according to the thiol concentration after complete hydrolysis of Gammafos
