Physicochemical properties of Yb14MnSb11 and its solid solutions of Yb14-xSmxSb11 type

Description
Present article is devoted to physicochemical properties of Yb14MnSb11 and its solid solutions of Yb14-xSmxSb11 type. The results of study of solid solutions that relate to Zintl phases have been considered. The density, melting points and thermal expansion have been calculated. The lattice parameters and the Debye temperature have been evaluated. It has been shown that solid solutions crystallize in the tetragonal structure of this type as Ca14MnSb11. All studied properties suggest that samarium replaces ytterbium in the crystal lattice of x≈0.5. (author)
