Study of dipole excitations and the single particle structure of radioactive nuclei using LAND setup at GSI

  • 1. Gesellschaft fuer Schwerionenforschung, Darmstadt (Germany)

Description

Experiments were performed using the FRS-LAND setup at GSI to study the dipole strength distributions above neutron separation threshold of neutron-rich Ni and Sn isotopes along with other nearby nuclei with similar mass-to-charge ratio. Measurements were also carried out to extract single particle occupancies via knockout reactions to investigate the structure and magicity of the neutron-rich Ni isotopes. An additional peak is observed in the energy range energy below the giant dipole resonance in the dipole excitation functions of 129-132Sn and 133,134Sb. Status of the data analysis of Ni isotopes is also presented along with preliminary results. (author)
