Reactor pressure vessel surveillance program irradiation capsules treatment
Description
The following tasks are performed in surveillance for reactor pressure vessel (RPV) and in treatment for irradiation capsules: 1. irradiation surveillance capsules between thermal shielding and RPV in reactor are removed out periodically according to operation situation; 2. Charpy-V and tensile tests of mechanical property specimens are conducted. Neutron fluence and irradiation temperature with dosimeters and thermal monitors are measured too; 3. neutron fluence at 1/4 thickness inside of RPV is calculated; 4. the relationships between the results of mechanical tests and neutron fluence are found out and neutron irradiation brittlement effect on RPV are determined. In order to transport irradiated capsule from NPP to hot laboratory, a special container was designed and manufactured. Evaluation of environment and analysis of safety were approved for the permission of transportation. The conclusion of and it shows: 90% of these points were evaluated as satisfactory for the mechanical testing results
