Description
In this work, a prototype of a robotic system for radiation dose measurement is described. The robot, communication and supervisory system have been developed using free hardware architecture and mobile phone communication. DTMF protocol has been used in order to allow communication through a phone o video call. The system has been developed using an Arduino processor interfaced to a Geiger radiation detector and communicates with a remote supervisory system through a mobile cellular phone. The supervisory system shows real time images of the cellular phone camera in the robot, allows full control of the robot and receives information from the detector. Besides its use with remote control, the robot will be prepared to be programmed, allowing automated tasks and the use of artificial intelligence. This last feature, however, is under development and is not available in the current stage of the project. (author)
