The reproduction potential of sitophilus oryzae (L) and sitophilus zeamais motsch on sorghum of the variety UPCA-S2

Description
An experiment to compare the breeding capacity of sitophilus cryzae (L) and sitophilus zeamais motsch on sorghum of the variety UPCA-S2 has been conducted. The parameter used for the comparison was the number of adult F1 insects produced up to the 56th day after infection. Sitophilus oryzae was found to increase in its number 8.10 times the original number of insects infected (P), while sitophilus zeamais 25.27 times, with a mode of distribution significantly different one from the other (P<0.005). The result of the experiment was compared with that of Richards. (author)
