Determination of the fission fragment range in natural uranium
Description
The method of solid state track recorders (SSTR) is used to determine the fission fragment range in natural uranium measurements in the ΣΣ-ITN system. Natural uranium samples with Makrofol foils have been irradiated in the center of ΣΣ-ITN facility. The exposure and measurement corrections are described in order to determine the fission fragment range. The measurements have been performed by the use of the Quantimet 720 image analyzer. The results are compared with the absolute fission rates obtained by means of fission chambers. These chambers were absolutely calibrated.(authors)
