Councils' Chernobyl response
Creators
Description
A number of local authorities in Britain have set up, or are considering setting up, their own radiation monitoring facilities independent of those run by government agencies eg the National Radiation Protection Board. Most schemes will follow the recommendations of the Institute of Environmental Health Officers and are geared around use in routine situations. The background to the need for these schemes, the areas participating and the potential applications of the monitoring schemes are discussed. (UK)
