Synthesis, characterization and thermochemical studies of novel carbazole-pyridine copolymers

Description
Carbazole is a well known photo and electro luminescent material with good thermal stability. Twelve novel co-polymers employing carbazole and 4-phenylpyridine with different substituents on phenyl ring were synthesized by a cheaper method and characterized through IR, /sup 1/H/-NMR, /sup 13/C-NMR, TGA, DSC, UV/Vis spectroscopy and fluorimetry. The weight average molecular weights were measured by laser light scattering techniques. The synthesized co-polymers possess good solubility, thermal stability and exhibit blue-green emission employing their use in organic light emitting diodes. (author)
