Inclusive Δ++(1232) production in 200-GeV/c π-p interactions

Description
The production of Δ++(1232) is investigated inclusively and semi-inclusively, and is compared with that of protons. We find differences in the Feynman x distributions for Δ's and protons near x = -1.0, which can be attributed to different exchange contributions in these processes. It is found that not all Δ++ come from the diffractively excited target proton. Density matrix elements of the Δ++ are in agreement with the predictions of the one-pion-exchange model with absorption
