Description
In order to explain the lattice dynamical properties of alkaline earth metals the model potential treatment has been applied to b.c.c. Sr. The calculated values for the phonon frequencies in the three symmetry directions are shown. A reasonable agreement with experiment is obtained, especially the restoration of the order of longitudinal and transverse branches in (100)-direction. In b.c.c. Sr the d occupation number is considerably smaller than in b.c.c. Ba, and b.c.c. Sr behaves more like a simple metal
