Electrochemical isolation of carbide phases in tungsten base alloys

  • 1. Moskovskij Inzhenerno-Fizicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

To assess the possibility and to determine the optimum conditions for the isolation of carbide phases in the tungsten-base alloys in the W-Zr-C system, the anodic polarization of tungsten, W2C, WC carbides and zirconium carbide has been studied. The expediency is shown of using the electrolyte (12% NH4OH), to isolate carbide phases in tungsten alloys alloyed with ZrC additions. It is most preferable to conduct the carbide phase isolation at 5 deg C and the potential E=-0.30 V (satur. el. cell.)
