Description
Purpose: To properly estimate the fuel rod power and thereby perform load following operation with safety in case if the power distribution within the fuel assembly deviates from the balanced state. Constitution: Average iodine 135 concentration, xenon 135 concentration of a nuclear fuel assembly and those of the most thermally severe fuel rod in a BWR type reactor are inspected. Then, the local power from the fuel rod is estimated by correcting the ratio between the power from the most thermally severe fuel rod and the average power of the fuel assembly (peaking coefficient) depending on the deviation between the measured relationship and the relationship in the balanced state. Based on the estimation, the reactor load following operation can be performed with safety. (Moriyama, K.)
