Description
Recent work on the impact parameter treatment of atom-atom collisions is considered. Although Bates' quantal and classical treatments of high-energy atom-atom collisions are complementary it is convenient to discuss them separately. Results of quantum mechanical calculations most of which are based on the early work of Bates and the achievements of his classical theories on atom-atom collisions are considered. (Auth.)
