Direct Containment Heating
- 1. National Atomic Energy Agency, Serpong (Indonesia), Center for Nuclear Fuel Element
Description
The objective of this design study is to determine the pressurization rate and peak pressure in a PWR subcompartment during a high-pressure melt ejection (HPME) event. The conservation of mass and energy in the reactor pressure vessel, cavity/subcompartment, and containment has been utilized to model HPME transients. Energy and non-condensible gas produced by the steam-zirconium reaction as well as heat transfer from the molten corium are considered. The methodology to solve the equations of the mass and energy concervation is outlined. (author). 4 refs., 4 figs
