Radiation protection in mining and in regions polluted by mining - aspects of natural science
Description
The radiological situation in the mining regions of Saxony and Thuringia proves to be complicated and many-sided, both with regard to its causes and to its effects. Radiologically speaking, an evaluation can and may only take place on the basis of unquestionable objective analysis and measuring results. However, at this point in time the available data is already adequate to refute any careless damnation of whole regions as ''lost areas''. (orig.)

Die Strahlensituation in den Bergbaugebieten Sachsens und Thueringens erweist sich als kompliziert und vielschichtig sowohl in ihren Ursachen wie in deren Auswirkungen. In radiologischer Hinsicht kann und darf eine Beurteilung nur auf der Grundlage unumstoesslicher objektiver Untersuchungs- und Messergebnisse erfolgen. Schon jetzt aber reichen die vorliegenden Kenntnisse aus, um einer leichtfertigen Verdammung ganzer Gebiete als ''verlorene Region'' zu begegnen. (orig.)Additional details
