Description
Some magnetic sorbents as Cu-ferrite and Fe-ferrite were prepared and characterized using I.R. spectroscopy and thermal analysis. The prepared sorbents were applied in studying the sorption of Zn(lI) from aqueous solution. The obtained results showed that uptake of Zn (II) onto Cu-ferrite and Fe-ferrite reached 97 and 35% with sorption capacity of 4.7 and 2.1 mg/g, respectively. The maximum removal of zinc was attained at ph=6.5. Langmuir isotherm model was applied to represent the experimental data. Also the release of zinc from loaded sorbents, Cu-ferrite and Fe-ferrite was studied using H2O, EDT A and HCl solutions and the desorption was in the range 80-100%
