String vertices and induced representations
Description
It is shown that string vertices carry an induced representation of a graded extension of the Virasoro group, to incorporate the ghosts with conformal dimension two and the BRST charge. Decoupling of zero norm physical states, which determines the measure, is a consequence of the behaviour of the vertex under this group. (orig.)
