Computed radiographic imaging for pediatric gastrointestinal examinations

Description

Computed radiography (CR) with phosphor plates is a new imaging modality that provides high-quality digital images. Because of the wide exposure latitude of phosphor plates, significant dose reduction is possible with CR. The image quality in relation to dose reduction, however, has not been well investigated. This paper presents the results of our animal and clinical studies to investigate the image quality in pediatric GI examinations. The characteristic curve, modulation transfer function, and noise-power spectrum of CR were determined and were compared with those of conventional screen-film and high-resolution digital photospot systems
