Isotope techniques in groundwater hydrology
Description
The problems created by the over-exploitation of ground-water in the industrial city of Ahmedabad in the Gujarat State are discussed. One of the remedial measures suggested in the recharging of selected tube-wells and depleted aquifers with purified water during the monsoon season when excess water is available in the river. Nuclear techniques are being used for determination of age and movement of groundwater. This information is necessary for proper management of above mentioned recharge programme. (M.G.B.)
