Determination of stepwise stability constants for aqueous hexacyanoferrate-tetramethylammonium ions pairs by cyclic voltammetry

Description

Ion pairing between aqueous hexacyanoferrate tetramethylammonium ions was characterized by cyclic voltammetry. The half-wave potential shift of the Fe(CN)64-/3- couple indicated the occurrence of a stepwise equilibrium with the quaternary ammonium ion. Determination of successive constants indicated that the species (TMA)3(Fe(CN)6 predominates at high tetramethylammonium ion activity. (author). 12 refs.; 3 figs
