Synthesis of the Nanocrystalline powders by a ultrasonic mist combustion process

  • 1. Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Taejon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

Nanocrystalline metal, metal/ceramic composites and ceramics powders were synthesized by ultrasonic mist combustion process under the oxidizing/reducing atmosphere. Copper and nickel nano-sized metal powder, miscible Cu-Ni alloy powder and immiscible Ag-Ni alloy powder were synthesized directly as well as Cu-Y2O3 metal-ceramic composite powder and CaTiO3 ceramics powders. X-ray diffraction, SEM and TEM observations with EDS analysis showed that the synthesized powders are nanocrystalline, spherical nature of the particle and well alloyed. Alloying occurred via the chemical routes of the decomposition of the metal salts, the oxidation, the reduction and sintering processes. (author)
