Description
The authors study the model of a harmonic oscillator coupled to a heat bath. A quantum Langevin equation is developed. A quantum fluctuation-dissipation relation is obtained which differs from the classical one and reduces to it in the high temperature limit. The main consequence of this relation is that spontaneous fluctuations in the quantum system can only be taken as Markovian under special circumstances. (Auth.)
