Elimination of micropollutants in fixed bed reactors - comparison between continuous operation reactor and sequencing batch working
Description
Two fixed bed reactors were operated in order to investigate the capacity of biofilms to eliminate micropollutants (xenobiotics) from purified effluends. One reactor was operated continuously and the other one semi-continuously, i.e., as sequencing batch reactor (SBR). As a model substrate 2,4-dichlorophenol was added. Both reactors eliminated this compound efficiently, but the SBR had a higher performance. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Fuer die Untersuchungen zum Abbau von Fremdstoffen sind zwei Biofilmreaktoren betrieben worden. Von den beiden baugleichen Reaktoren arbeitete einer nach dem Sequencing-Batch-Verfahren und der andere im kontinuierlichen Betrieb. Als Modellsubstrat diente 2,4 Dichlorphenol. Es konnte ein ausreichender Abbau des 2,4 Dichlorphenols erreicht werden, wobei im Sequencing Batch Reaktor (SBR) eine hoehere Abbauleistung erzielt wurde. (orig.)Additional details
