Investigation of high spin states in 1p and 2sld shell nuclei via the (α,2He) reaction

Description

The (α,2He) reaction was measured on 16 targets ranging from 12C to 40Ca in order to obtain an initial survey of this reaction. Large cross sections were found for transitions to states of (d/sub 5/2/)42,(d/sub 3/2/f/sub 7/2/)5, and (f/sub 7/2/)62 character, resulting in the location of a number of 2n states, many of which were previously unknown. Spectra from the 28Si, 26Mg, and 29Si targets bombarded by alpha particles in the reaction (α,2He) and binding energies for several configurations as a function of the mass of the final nucleus are shown. 3 references
