Structural, optical and morphological properties of TiO2 / In2O3 / WO3 multilayers useful for 3rd generation solar cell

Multilayers are a unique class of coatings comprised of alternating layers of different materials, having thickness from the macro to nanoscale. Multilayer properties are important for the sensor, energy and biomedical applications and performing many functions such as antireflection coatings, blocking layer, interleaves, band splitting filters. Multilayers show different physical structural and optical properties other than the conventional monolayer. In present study, we have designed and studied the structural, optical and morphological properties of TiO2/In2O3/WO3 multilayers considering their application in 3rd Generation Solar Cell. Compact layer of TiO2 was deposited on fluorine doped tin oxide by using chemical bath deposition whereas porous In2O3 and WO3 layers were deposited on compact TiO2 layer by using Doctor Blade. The optical, morphological and structural properties of designed multilayers were studied using UV-Visible spectrometer, Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. XRD of In2O3 shows cubic and that of WO3 shows triclinic structure. The crystallite size of the deposited layers of WO3 and InO3 were 37 and 40 nm, respectively. (author)
