Clinical analysis of the relationship with the effect of serum vaspin on gestational diabetes and postpartum diabetes

Description
Objective: To explore the relationship with the effect of serum vaspin on gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and postpartum diabetes mellitus (PDM). Methods: 73 patients suffered GDM were divided into the observed group, and 73 patients with normal glucose tolerance were served as control group. The differences of the blood glucose, insulin, homeostasis model insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR), serum vaspin and body mass index (BMI) were compared between the two groups. And single factor correlative analysis was used to explore the above indicators. Finally, the difference of serum vaspin between the patients with of without PDM was compared. Results: (1) The serum vaspin and HOMA-IR in both observe group and control group decreased significantly from the second trimester to postpartum, but the level in the observed group were significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). (2) At the pregnancy, the vaspin was positively correlated to insulin and HOMA-IR in the observed group, and not in the control group and postpartum. (3) There's no significant difference of serum visfatin between the patients with or without postpartum diabetics (P > 0.05). Conclusions: Vaspin is associated with GDM, but could not predict PDM.
