Description
Thermal analysis results obtained with some sputtered Co-Nb-Zr alloys are presented. Microstructural determinations at some stages of the crystallization process were made with transmission electron microscopy and the results given. Crystallization occurs over a wider temperature range than for binary Co90Zr10 ribbons. Binary Co-Nb films crystallize in the range 750-800K, some 10 degrees below ternary films. The presence of zirconium enhances the stability of the amorphous phase. An explanation of the results is given. (U.K.)
