Participation of Czechoslovakia in development of nuclear power complex of CMEA countries

The development of nuclear power in Czechoslovakia is closely linked to cooperation with countries of the Council of Mutual Economic Assistance, namely with the USSR. The Soviet variant of a nuclear power plant with two WWER-440 reactors has been introduced in CMEA countries as the common integrated nuclear power plant type. On the basis of concluded agreements (1977, 1979) multilateral cooperation developed between the CMEA countries in design, the manufacture of equipment, uranium mining and fuel element processing and the disposal of spent fuel. A list is given of operating and projected nuclear power plants in Czechoslovakia and their benefits. The possibility is discussed of the use of waste heat in industry, agriculture and district heating. (Pu)
