Radioactive waste management: 1963-1984

Description

A broad-brush description of radioactive waste management over the past twenty-one years is given. It is set in the context of statutory requirements of the Radioactive Substances Act 1960, which became law in 1983. The Act is looked at critically and an attempt is made to demonstrate that where there were failings in the field of waste management, these were directly due to flaws in the Act. The fear is expressed that the Government has not learned the lesson. (author)
