Study on elastic electron scattering on deuterons at the square momentum transfer of 0.36-0.9 fm-2

Description

Presented are the results of measuring elastic ed-scattering in the range of small transferred momentum of 0.36-0.9 fm-2 on an internal beam of the 4.5 GeV energy synchrotron. A thin CD2 target with a small hydrogen impurity was used in the experiment. Deuteron and recoil proton spectra were measured by silicon semiconductor detectors. Obtained are experimental values of electric form factor of deuteron. Data were analyzed to determine values of charge and structural radius of deuteron. Obtained are values of electric neutron form factor depending on the model used to describe structural deuteron function, and also on the value of mean-square proton radius. Momentum form factor of a deuteron is equal to (2.080 +- 0.027) fm. Structural deuteron radius amounts (1.944 +- 0.028) fm, mean-square proton radius being (0.817 +- 0.008). Structural deuteron radius is 1.947 +- 0.029; 1.935 +- 0.029 and 1.921 +- 0.029 fm at the values of proton radius of 0.81 +- 0.01; 0.84 +- 0.01 and 0.87 +- 0.01 fm, respectively. Structural radius rsub(d)=1.967 fm corresponds to the modified Hamad-Jonston model
