Fractographic analysis of the failure mechanisms of irradiated VVER 1000 reactor pressure vessel weld metal

Description
Non-irradiated and neutron-irradiated samples of the RPV weld metal, i.e. Sv 12Kh2N2MAA steel, were subjected to Charpy impact tests, and the fracture surfaces of broken halves of Charpy impact specimens were taken to fractographic analysis. The fractographic analysis was devoted particularly to intergranular fracture evaluation. The results of the fractographic analysis were compared with the impact toughness results. (orig.)
