Polarization of Λ0, produced by approximately 40 GeV neutrons on carbon nuclei
- 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)
Description
In the range of transverse momentum from 0 to 1.2 GeV/c the polarization of Λ0 particles inclusively produced by neutrons on carbon with the average neutron energy about 40 GeV is measured. About 80000 Λ0 decays are analyzed. The experiment is made using BIS-2 spectrometer on the Serpukhov accelerator. Two types of targets have been used in experiments: carbon plate with the diameter of 5 cm 6.24 g/cm2 thick and two 4x6 cm2 scintillation counters each 3 cm thick. Λ0 polarization grows with psub(perpendicular) growth and achieves about 30% in the range of 0.8 GeV/c
