Conditioning radioactive waste by drying
Description
Waste which, from the outset, does not comply with the requirements for radioactive waste to be stored in a repository includes such waste forms as moist or liquid wastes, e.g. sump sludges, concentrated filter resins, mostly in mixes, evaporator concentrates, and non-burnable unsorted waste of low residual moisture contents, most of it located on the surface. The water contained in these wastes is separated quantitatively, if possible, by drying. Various methods are employed. (orig./HP)
